Krystle began her career at Alaska Airlines in February of 2007, as an Anchorage based flight attendant. In 2010, her activism within our Union started with her involvement on the Anchorage Government Affairs committee. When she transferred to Seattle in 2013, she continued as the Local Executive Council (LEC) Mobilization chair as well as the LEC Government Affairs Chair. In 2016, when the position became vacant, Krystle was appointed Master Executive Council (MEC) Government Affairs Chair after years of dedication and passion for the committee and advancing the flight attendant profession through national campaigns and legislation.
This year, at the 2017 AFA Board of Directors (BOD) meeting, Krystle was the proud recipient of the Terri Owens award which highlights one AFA member’s excellence in Government Affairs. Krystle is currently the AFA Next Generation (Next Gen) Lead Activist for the Next Gen Program at Communication Workers of America (CWA). She has represented AFA on the AFL-CIO’s Young Worker’s Advisory Council. She is an active Labor Notes participant — engaging rank and file union members from across the country to work on social and economic justice issues that affect millions of workers. She has traveled to Washington D.C., numerous times, to lobby on Capitol Hill behalf of all flight attendants on national legislative policies. Her motto is; “what we legislate, we don’t have to negotiate.”
In 2016, Krystle moved to the Portland area after she got married. She currently lives north of Vancouver, WA with her husband and step-daughters, as well as the dog and cat. She is an avid lover of outdoor activities such as fishing, kayaking and hiking. She is beyond thrilled to begin another new chapter in her life and to continue her union involvement and activism as Portland’s Council 39 Vice-President.
