Dear Flight Attendants,
Most of you are likely aware by now that Managing Director Of Inflight Operations Ron Calvin responded to AFA’s “MEC Update April 9, 2014: ‘Inflight Shadows’ and Violation of Section 3.D Scope of Agreement.” Ron’s response was in a First Class message “Trip to LIH” dated April 11, 2014. In the communication Ron publicly acknowledged and apologized for the contractual violation.
What you probably do not know is that the Labor Relations department immediately sustained Grievance #36-99-2-7-14 (“Violation of Section 3.D Scope of Agreement”) on April 10th. Your Master Executive Council (MEC) is appreciative this contractual violation was passed along to us by vigilant Flight Attendants and subsequently sustained so quickly. Although the grievance is technically resolved, some frank discussions between your AFA leadership and management will be happening to ‘debrief’ these events.
Your MEC—Jeffrey Peterson, Brian Palmer, Yvette Gesch, Becky Strachan, Laura Masserant, Cathy Gwynn and Sandra Morrow
