What Does This Committee Do?

The Inflight Training Committee represents Flight Attendant interests regarding initial training, recurrent training, and other company-required training activities.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review and provide input on Flight Attendant Initial and Recurrent Training programs, curriculum, and other materials
  • Review and provide input on supplemental training activities
  • Act in an advisory role to the MEC on inflight training-related matters
  • Review material, handle correspondence, and keep the members well informed of current inflight training developments. Provide information to the Communications Committee for inclusion in MEC communications.

  • Contractual questions or concerns related to Flight Attendant roles in initial training or recurrent training

Supplemental Ditching Training

AFA has not agreed to any extra-contractual terms for the newly announced supplemental ditching training; discussions with management just started. Many management decision-makers are away at contract negotiations, delaying progress toward any sort of agreement. Our AFA Committees are committed to advocating for your rights and will address unresolved issues through the contractual grievance process if necessary.

Recurrent Training 2022

The 2022 Recurrent Training (RT) program is underway at all training locations.  Read on for information about preflight oral evaluations and acceptable deviations to emergency evacuations commands. For those who are attending RT in Seattle, be aware that the training facility has moved this year.  Check the RT website for information about the new location, directions, and parking. Safety measures such as continued social distancing and HEPA filtration systems in RT classrooms will be in place as a result of AFA advocacy.  These measures should be in place as of January 12.
