Hawaiian Inflight Service Committee Update – June 30, 2026

        July 1, 2026 01:00 Leave a Comment

This message is for pre-merger Hawaiian Flight Attendants

A Message Regarding the Hawaiian Crew Meal Program

        Aloha Hawaiian Flight Attendants,

Our work life is currently experiencing overwhelming amounts of change. Part of this change is managementʻs introduction of a new crew meal program with the transition to our business/first class pre-order meal program. Pre-merger Alaska management is now overseeing all crew meals for Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendants. The AFA Officers and Inflight Service Committee have heard your concerns regarding the quality and consistency of what is currently being provided.  We are diligently educating management on our past expectations, their contractual obligations, and the preferences specific to Hawaiian Airlines crew members.

Management has expressed that the new program was never intended to reduce the quality or integrity of the options available to our crews. They are committed to working with AFA to reestablish meals that meet our needs while fulfilling the $550,000 annual budget increase that was established in the 2020 agreement. We have confirmed that this annual spending budget is being met and we will continue to hold management accountable to these parameters. Solutions will take both a short and long term approach as management works through the logistics with local and international kitchens.

We appreciate your continued diligence in documenting all of your experiences. Your B2B reports are important and remain the primary driver for these changes. Mahalo a nui loa for your patience!

        In solidarity,

        AFA Inflight Service Committee Chairpersons,
Bianca McKee, Master Executive Council – Hawaiian Brand

        AFA Leadership Orientation

This month, your Council 47 officers had the opportunity to meet with our newly appointed committee chairs at the AFA office in Seattle. During the meeting, we reviewed the AFA structure, discussed the roles and responsibilities of our committees, and began planning how we can best support our LAX and SEA Flight Attendants.

We were also honored to hear from AFA International officers, Sara Nelson, Dante Harris, and Keturah Johnson, who shared updates on AFA, the aviation industry, and words of encouragement as we continue strengthening our Local Council.

Throughout the day, we strategized on member support, planned upcoming trainings, meetings, and conferences, and discussed ways to continue growing our representation. We are excited to have such a dedicated and knowledgeable group of committee chairs and committee members and look forward to continuing to build and expand our team.

If you are planning to order 787 uniform pieces or are still awaiting your complete order, please be aware that some items are currently backordered until July. As a result, you may receive an approved off-the-shelf replacement item instead of the standard 787 piece. These items are designed to closely match the approved uniform but may have slight differences in color or appearance compared to that actual uniform.

Council 47 SEA Base Update – Immersion Training Per Diem Overpayment

        June 25, 2026 08:58

This message is for pre-merger Hawaiian Seattle Based Flight Attendants

        Immersion Training Per Diem Overpayment

Over the past several months since Immersion Training began, AFA has been actively working with the company regarding the payment of immersion training per diem. Unfortunately, there have been multiple payroll errors throughout this process. We understand the frustration these issues have caused and want you to know that we have been working behind the scenes to ensure the company complies with its contractual obligations and corrects these errors.

        Issue #1:

We were initially made aware that no per diem had been paid for immersion training. AFA immediately notified the company of its contractual obligation under Section 4.A.2. to pay a minimum of eight (8) hours of per diem for each day of training.

        Issue #2

When attempting to correct the issue, the company processed payments at each Flight Attendant’s hourly rate of pay rather than at the negotiated per diem rate, creating additional payroll inaccuracies.

        Issue #3

While correcting the overpayment through the recovery process outlined in Section 27.K.2., the company failed to provide advance notification to affected Flight Attendants prior to making deductions from paychecks. This lack of communication caused unnecessary confusion, anxiety, and frustration.

We recognize that ongoing payroll errors have been burdensome and have eroded confidence in the payroll process. We share your concerns and continue to hold the company accountable for these repeated mistakes.

We encourage all Flight Attendants to carefully review their pay statements and verify that they are being paid correctly. If you identify any discrepancies, please report them to HA.fapay@alaskaair.com and copy your Council 47 Officers at 47@afahawaiian.org. Keeping us informed helps us track trends, advocate on your behalf, and apply additional pressure for timely and accurate resolutions.

Hawaiian SEA Inflight Service Committee Update – June 20, 2026

Inflight Service Chair Selected – Kekai Lum

        Aloha Seattle ‘Ohana,

The Council 47 Officers are pleased to announce the appointment of Kekai Lum as our new Inflight Service Committee Chair – SEA Focus.

Yesterday, we concluded our interview and selection process for this position. We were encouraged by the strong interest from the Membership, with seven Members submitting applications to serve in this role. We appreciate everyone who took the time to apply and participate in the process.

Kekai brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position. In addition to his years of service at Hawaiian Airlines, he is also a former Aloha Airlines Flight Attendant. As a high flyer, he has extensive experience working a variety of routes and is well-versed in both Business Class and Main Cabin service positions. His broad operational experience and firsthand understanding of our onboard service make him well-positioned to represent the interests of our Members in Seattle.

As Inflight Service Committee Chair, Kekai will serve as a resource for Members on service-related matters, work closely with the MEC and Local Inflight Service Committee, and help ensure the perspectives of the SEA Flight Attendants are represented as our 787 service continues to evolve.

Please join us in welcoming Kekai to the Council 47 team and congratulating him on his appointment.

        Council 47 Update – June 20, 2026

        June 20, 2026 07:00

This message is for pre-merger Hawaiian Flight Attendants

Action Required: Invalidate and Confirm Your Hawaiian Airlines ID Badge

        Aloha Council 47 Members,

We want to remind all former Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendant badge holders that the company continues to require the invalidation of Hawaiian Airlines ID badges in accordance with TSA requirements.

The company has advised that approximately 415 directives have been issued to Flight Attendants between all three domiciles who have not yet surrendered their HA ID badge or provided proof that the badge has been properly invalidated. Flight Attendants who have not completed this requirement may be at risk of missing the directive deadline and could be subject to further disciplinary action.

To comply with the directive, Flight Attendants should ensure their Hawaiian Airlines ID badge has been invalidated by punching two holes in the expiration date:

        • One hole through the expiration month
        • One hole through the expiration year

If you have already invalidated your badge but have not yet provided proof, please submit a photo clearly showing the badge with both hole punches visible.

It was brought to our attention that some Flight Attendants who previously invalidated their badges, either on their own or with the assistance of management, may have received a directive in error. After discussing this issue with management, the company acknowledged there were instances where invalidated badges were not properly documented. This was a failure in the company’s recordkeeping process, not a failure on the part of the affected Flight Attendants.

We understand the inconvenience, frustration, and anxiety this may have caused and apologize to those who wrongly received certified mail.

If you have questions regarding this requirement or need assistance, please contact HA.inflight.performance@alaskaair.com.

Please do not delay in completing this requirement if you have not already done so.

        Mahalo,
