        What Does This Committee Do?

Download the Membership Engagement Committee Member duties and responsibilities

The Membership Engagement Committee is dedicated to building strong connections
with Flight Attendants, ensuring they feel welcomed and valued in our Union from their
first day and throughout their careers. Our mission is to empower every Member by
keeping them informed, engaged, and actively involved. We aim to inspire Flight
Attendants to take an active role in shaping their experience as AFA Members and
prepare them for additional responsibilities within our Union.

        Key Responsibilities

        • Build Connections: Actively reach out to new Members to welcome them and provide ongoing support to existing Members, ensuring they feel informed and engaged with Union activities.
        • Resource Education: Stay updated on the resources available through AFA and educate Members on how to effectively utilize these resources to address their needs and enhance their involvement in our Union.
        • Educational Outreach: Deliver educational materials and programs through various formats, including one-on-one conversations, small group sessions, and structured training programs to reinforce Members’ knowledge and skills.
        • Feedback Collection: Systematically gather and report Member feedback regarding their concerns and challenges. Report the information to the MEC Committee Chairperson to inform decision-making and improve Member support.
        • Community Building: Organize regular in-person events, visibility activities, and networking opportunities to strengthen relationships among Members, facilitate direct interactions with AFA Representatives, and promote a sense of camaraderie within our Union.
        • Encouraging Participation: Champion increased Member involvement by sharing information about volunteer opportunities, upcoming Local Executive Council (LEC) and Master Executive Council (MEC) elections, and other avenues for participation.
