        Rainmaker Pay Inquiries

FA Website > Administration > Pay & Benefits > Rainmaker Login > Current Period

Fill out what you believe you are due as a Pay Query on the appropriate date. Write out the situation and submit.

Check the Pay Query for comments from Payroll. You may ask Payroll or your Scheduling Committee for clarification on denials.

Required IROP queries (not inclusive of all Reserve/other submissions):

        • Deadhead converted to working
        • Double out rest and opt to fly next trip
        • Go around (Reserve only)
        • Stranded
        • Natural Disaster

Refer to the Rainmaker User Guide for assistance on how to file a query regarding activity claim.

        Irregular Operations

        §8.F. Over-Duty Pay

Duty exceeds 12:30, all flying and surface deadhead into and above 12:30 (full TFP value) paid at 2.0x the rate, minimum of 1 TFP. Reserve: minimum 1 TFP credited to guarantee, 1 TFP paid above (1.0x the rate).

Duty exceeds (or projected) 16:00, all flying and surface deadhead into and above 16:00 (full TFP value) paid at 3.0x the rate until legal rest. Reserve: minimum 1 TFP credited to guarantee, 1 TFP paid above (2.0x the rate).

§8.G. Fourteen Hour (14:00) Duty Provisions

Projected or actual 14:00 hours duty:

        • If at domicile/co-terminal may be replaced and pay protected.
          • If remain on pairing, paid 2.0x rate for applicable duty period.
        • If at outstation, may be required to remain on sequence. Paid 1.5x rate for applicable duty period.

        §8.H. Compensatory (Double Out) Rest

Duty exceeds 12:30, requires rest double the time spent on duty upon return to domicile. You may choose to remain on trips that fall within the double out rest period, within legalities, and be compensated 2.0x the rate of pay for affected duty period(s) in the subsequent sequence.

If duty exceeded 14:00, crew scheduling is required per CFR 121.467 b.7. to provide at least 12 consecutive hours of rest.

        §8.I. Night Rule

If you are on duty at 4:29 local time (initial departure station time of that duty period) and duty day expected to exceed 10:30

        1. At domicile may be released by 8:30 local time with Pay Protection, or waive Night Rule (see 3 below).
        2. At outstation/co-terminal may be required to remain on sequence.
        3. If on duty past 8:30 local time, you will be paid the greater of 2x the rate for the duty period, or 8.F. Over-Duty Pay, or § 8.G. Fourteen Hour Duty.

        §8.K. Reduced RON Rest

You must have a minimum of ten hours of rest. If rest on a RON must be restored, you will suffer no loss of pay. Crew Scheduling may adjust your schedule by:

        • Adjusting report time of following duty period to allow for CFR-required rest; or
        • Reassign per §10.R.; or
        • Remove from remainder of assignment with pay protection and DHD to domicile after CFR-required rest

        §8.L. Forty-Eight in Seven (48/7) Rest

If you did not waive your 48/7 and want it restored, contact Crew Scheduling no more than 2 hours after the sequence reducing your rest. You will be pay protected for a subsequently dropped (if 48/7 cannot be restored) or altered sequence. If you fly the sequence unaltered, you will be paid 2.0x trip rate for first duty of subsequent sequence.

        §8.M. Domicile Rest

If you waived domicile rest below 11:30, then you could be reduced to 10 hours rest and pay protection does not apply.

11:30 domicile rest may operationally be reduced to 10:30 rest. If domicile rest is reduced below 10:30, sequences will be altered or dropped to achieve 11:30 domicile rest. You will not suffer any loss in pay and will be pay protected for the difference. If you fly the sequence unaltered, you will be paid a 2.0x rate for the first duty period of the subsequent sequence.

        §8.N. Waiver of Contractual Rest

If you waive any contractually required rest, and then operationally would fall below CFR-required 10 hours rest, you will be pulled from sufficient flights to resolve the illegality with no pay protection. If you are stranded due to illegality, file for stranded pay.

§10.E.1.a. Flying Into A Day Off (more than minimum days off)

If your duty period carries into a day off by :15 minutes or more as a result of operations, you will be paid 2.5x rate for any flight(s), including surface DHD, that operate on the day off, in addition to all other compensation.

Reserves will be paid 2.5x above guarantee.

§10.E.1.a. Flying Into A Day Off (minimum or fewer days off)

If your duty period carries into a minimum day off by :15 minutes or more as a result of operations, you will be paid 2.5x rate for any flight(s), including surface DHD, that operate on the day off (minimum of 1.6 TFP), in addition to all other compensation.

Reserves will be paid 2.5x above guarantee.

        §10.R. Reassignments

        Review the following flow-charts:

        • Reassignment Flow-chart
        • Reassignment Pay Flow-chart

        §10.S. Pre-Cancellations

        Review the Pre-Cancellation Flow-chart

        §21.J.1. Block Delays

Block delays are paid 1.11 TFP per hour, prorated and rounded up to the nearest 0.1 TFP (once the delay meets or exceeds :11 minutes).

        §21.J.2. Ground Delays

Ground delays are paid 0.5 TFP per hour, prorated and rounded up to the nearest 0.1 TFP (once the delay meets or exceeds :11 minutes).

        §21.N. Stranded Pay

Also see Addendum to Section 21, questions #2, #3, #8, and #11. Stranded pay is negated by pay protection. You get the greater of the stranding or the pay protection. Sick leave is not accrued on Stranded Pay (§ 16.A.4.). Each Flight Attendant must submit a Pay Query.

Regular stranding: Actual departure delayed 2:01 from scheduled departure (or block-in, if mid-sequence) is 1 TFP of stranded pay. Each subsequent 4 hours is an additional 1 TFP.

Stranded overnight into a scheduled day off: Accumulate stranded time/pay from scheduled departure of station or domicile/co-terminal until duty period preceding unscheduled RON was scheduled to end. Compensation from § 9.D.1.d. will begin thereafter until return to domicile/co-terminal.

First 2:01 and each additional 4 hours are paid 1 TFP.

§21.Q. Compensation for Flying Greater than Scheduled

If reassigned on a scheduled day of work, you are paid per §10.R.5. (Reassignments) and § 21.N. (Stranded Pay) as applicable. §9.D.1.d. (Company’s Right to Assign JA) may also apply.
