It’s very likely you have heard that Anchorage Flight Attendants have been involved in recent air quality (AQ) events. It seems this is a good time to send out some reminders on what to do when involved.
If you have not already completed the video training provided by AFA on AQ events, or even if you have, you can view it at: afaalaska.org/ashsc/airquality
(Resources – “Onboard Fume Events Recognition Training”).
(A wallet card that can be printed, folded, and carried behind your ID badge, can also be found on that page.)
If you find yourself or someone on your crew experiencing an AQ event, and you are unable to leave the aircraft, there are things to do as soon as possible:
• Notify the Pilots
• Retrieve and follow the AQ Reporting Form (located in the Stationary Kit).
• Connect with MedAire
• AQ events may cause symptoms of hypoxia. If you experience these symptoms, immediately don oxygen.
As soon as possible, notify our MEC ASHSC Air Quality Representative:
Yvette Satterlee
(206) 457-2010 Option 3
Cell: 562-209-3473
Yvette will be your primary contact and will work with you, scheduling, global and the company. She will also reach out to you, if you do not call. If she leaves you a message, it is important to return that call as soon as possible.
**If a co-worker experiencing an AQ Event reaches out to you via text or call, please get them in touch with Yvette.**
If you have questions regarding this communication, please reach out to us at anc@afaalaska.org.
In Solidarity,
LeiLauni, Heather and Annie
