SEA OJI UPDATE: Important Clarifications & Filing Procedures
Aloha SEA Flight Attendants,
We want to share two important clarifications regarding the filing of On-the-Job Injury (OJI) claims with Washington State Labor & Industries (L&I), along with a reminder of the reporting process for SEA-based Flight Attendants.
Important Clarifications
1. Employer Name: Hawaiian Airlines
When filing your claim with Washington L&I, you must list Hawaiian Airlines as your employer, NOT Alaska Airlines. Listing Alaska Airlines will result in your claim being denied.
2. Employer Mailing Address
If asked to provide a company address, please use the following:
Hawaiian Airlines
P.O. Box 30008
Honolulu, HI 96820
Please ensure this information is entered correctly to avoid unnecessary delays or denials in processing your claim.
SEA OJI Reporting Process
As a reminder, SEA-based Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendants are not currently covered under Sedgwick for workers’ compensation claims. Until a Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement (JCBA) is implemented, SEA Flight Attendants must initiate their claims directly through Washington State Labor & Industries (L&I).
Step 1: File Your Claim with Washington L&I
Contact Washington State Labor & Industries to initiate your workers’ compensation claim.
- Phone: 360-902-5800
- Website: https://www.lni.wa.gov
Be sure to obtain your claim number and use the employer information provided above.
Step 2: Notify Crew Scheduling
If your injury prevents you from working, contact Crew Scheduling to report your absence. Your absence will initially be recorded as Sick Leave.
Step 3: Notify Inflight Management
Contact Inflight Management to report your injury and provide your L&I claim number. Inflight Management is responsible for notifying Crew Scheduling to update your absence coding from Sick to OCC (Occupational Injury).
Step 4: Return-to-Work Clearance
When you are cleared to return to work, provide your medical clearance documentation to Inflight Management.
Important Reminder: Notifying Crew Scheduling alone does not initiate your workers’ compensation claim. You must file directly with Washington L&I and notify Inflight Management to ensure your absence is properly documented and coded.
