Management’s Planned Hawaiian Airlines Seattle Flight Attendant Domicile

        June 30, 2025 21:00

Today, management announced plans to establish Hawaiian Airlines’ 787 Pilot and Flight Attendant bases in Seattle by early 2026. This move aims to enhance operational efficiencies for Alaska Airlines as it expands its international presence in the Seattle area. According to the terms of the Merger Transition Protocol Letter of Agreement, the Company is allowed to open Flight Attendant domiciles for either pre-merger carrier in the same city where the other pre-merger carrier has an existing domicile once it obtains a Single Operating Certificate (SOC), which is anticipated to be secured by the end of October.

It’s important to note that the Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendant contract requires management to negotiate the terms for opening a new domicile in accordance with Section 6, Title I of the Railway Labor Act, as amended.

We recognize that this announcement may come as a surprise, and many of you may have questions about the implications going forward. Our Master Executive Council (MEC) is committed to keeping you informed throughout this process.

How will this affect me as a Seattle Base Flight Attendant?

          • Brian Palmer (MEC Communications Committee Chairperson) says

            July 2, 2025 at 19:54

At this point, it’s still too early to determine how this announcement will impact Seattle-based pre-merger Alaska Flight Attendants, as well as other Flight Attendants from both pre-merger airlines. The plans to establish a Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendant base in Seattle are still in the very early phases, and management has only just begun working on the detailed planning activities associated with it.

As we receive more information from management about the operational changes and how they may affect both pre-merger Hawaiian and Alaska Flight Attendants, we’ll ensure this information is shared with everyone. We understand there are many questions and concerns, and we appreciate your patience as we navigate this change together. Our MEC is committed to keeping everyone informed as updates become available.

Excellent progression of things, all of this seems to show how quickly this process may go. Here is to the SOC in October 2025.

Hawaiian Flight Attendant Seattle Domicile Negotiations – March 2026 Update

        March 2, 2026

Management currently requires Flight Attendants to provide proof of relocation to receive the flat-rate moving expense, a policy that the AFA is formally challenging through the grievance process. While this dispute is ongoing, Flight Attendants able to submit proof of relocation must submit two forms of documentation, such as a lease or updated driver’s license, within 60 days of transfer if they wish to be paid under management’s terms. The union continues to advocate for a fairer process and encourages members to keep records of all related interactions.

During this negotiation session, we made progress on Sections 15 (Leaves of Absence) and 22 (Expenses). The JNC advocated for positive developments from the Hawaiian CBA to strengthen our proposals. We also introduced our initial proposal for Section 28 (Domiciles) and remain committed to meaningful improvements in all areas of discussion.
