        Opportunity to Become a Nationally Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (NCPRSS)

        Do You Want to Become a Nationally Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (NCPRSS)?

        The National Association of Drug and Alcohol Counselors (NAADAC) is offering a ONE-Time test exemption pathway to obtain this certification. This certification will allow you to seek employment /volunteer within substance abuse treatment facilities  that are using recovery peers to support their patients in early recovery.  This offer is open until December 31, 2018.  Below are the specifics that you need to know:

        To qualify, you must have:

        • A High School Diploma
        • Minimum of 2 years of recovery from substance use and/or co-occurring mental health disorder
        • 200 hours of direct practice (volunteer or paid hours) in a peer recovery support environment.
        • Provide evidence of 60 hours of education. 50%  of those hours must be from face to face learning (not online).  6 of the hours must be in ethics (within the last 6 years) and 6 must be in HIV and other pathogens (within the last 6 years).

        To Apply:

        • Complete the application and submit it before December 31, 2018.
        • The application must include two references, one of which must be professional contained in sealed envelopes.
        • You must mail the completed application and all supporting documentation with the application fee.

        The Application Fee:

        • The application fee is $150.00.
        • It must be submitted with the application.

        The following message is from Heather Healy, Director of the AFA EAP Program and Manager of the Flight Attendant Drug and Alcohol Program (FADAP).  If you have questions about EAP or the FADAP Program, feel free to contact Heather at the telephone number below or reach out to your Local EAP Committee.  You can find contact information for your EAP Committee Members at http://afaalaska.org/eap.

        If today, you are currently a Flight Attendant and in recovery from alcohol and/or drug abuse, please consider completing this short 9-question survey.  Your answers are completely anonymous. You can skip any questions you don’t want to answer.

        The purpose of this survey is to collect data on the value of supporting Flight Attendants through the recovery and return to work process.         Wings of Sobriety telephonic meetings for Flight Attendants in recovery or wishing to explore their substance use concerns are scheduled for:

        • Wednesdays at 3 PM EST
        • Saturdays at 9 AM EST

        SEA Domicile Negotiations – October 2025

        The recent meetings of the SEA Domicile Negotiating Committee in Seattle and Honolulu highlighted both progress and persistent challenges in negotiations with management. While there has been advancement on some issues, significant concerns remain. Key topics under discussion include the transfer processes, return options to HNL or LAX, staffing, moving expenses, and safeguarding existing bases. Our committee prepares for the next round of negotiations in Seattle during the week of October 20.

        Our JNC made significant progress in shaping our JCBA, successfully reaching a Tentative Agreement on Section 13 – Uniforms. Key provisions include enhancements to uniform standards, ensuring protective measures such as no surnames on name tags from the Hawaiian CBA. While we continue discussions on various sections, including Air Safety Health and Security, Training, and Commuter Policy. We appreciate feedback from the 2207 Flight Attendants who participated in our recent Vacation Survey.
