Meet & Greet: Joint Negotiating Committee and Alaska + Hawaiian MEC

This message is for pre-merger Hawaiian Flight Attendants

We hope your 2026 is off to a great start. As we head into the new year, Honolulu Council 43 is looking forward to bringing members together for an opportunity to connect and engage directly with our leadership.

We will be hosting the Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) and the Alaska + Hawaiian MEC for a meet and greet on Thursday, January 15, 2026. The meeting will be held at 0930 at the 7th floor conference center of Terminal 1 at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.

The SEA Negotiating Committee will be in attendance and available to answer your questions as well. As a reminder, the SEA Domicile Vacancy bids have been extended. Deadline to submit a vacancy bid is now Monday, January 19th at 2359 HT.

Refreshments and validated parking ($3.50) will be provided. All members in good standing are invited to attend.

Council 47 LAX Update – Retirement Health Reimbursement Arrangement (RHRA)

RHRA Reminder

Important Retiree Health Reimbursement Arrangement (RHRA) Reminder

Please be advised that we are now required to give the Company 60 days’ notice of our intent to retire in order to receive the RHRA benefit, and that the RHRA will not be available to anyone who retires after April 2, 2026.

In order to receive the RHRA benefit a Flight Attendant must notify the Company by February 1, 2026 of their intent to retire on April 2, 2026. 

The (RHRA) is an AFA-negotiated benefit that provides some retirees between $10,000 and $30,000, based on their years of service. The funds are available for you to pay for things like medical insurance or medical expenses while in retirement. More information about the RHRA may be found in Section 34-22 of the contract. If you are considering retirement please be sure to review the company-provided retirement planning checklist and the required retirement notification form.

SEA Domicile Negotiations Update – January 2026

This message is for pre-merger Hawaiian Flight Attendants

  • SEA Domicile Vacancy bids have been extended to Monday, January 19 at 2359 HT
  • An agreement has been reached between the Hawaiian Seattle Domicile Negotiating Committee and management on several key issues, including the confirmation of the “Rescinding the Award” provision
  • As of January 7, a total of 189 Hawaiian Flight Attendants have submitted bids for the new SEA Domicile, with 163 from HNL and 26 from LAX

The Hawaiian Seattle Domicile Negotiating Committee appreciates your patience as we have been diligently pursuing improvements regarding the SEA Domicile Award Process. We are please to announced that we have reached an agreement with management on several outstanding items.

Importantly, the “Rescinding the Award” provision and timeline has been confirmed and we have agreed to extend the bid timeline by one week. We will discuss these updates and more at the virtual roadshow meeting tomorrow, Sunday, January 11.

Recission Process

A Flight Attendant awarded an April vacancy may rescind their SEA domicile award by completing the Vacancy Bid Form by 2359 HST the calendar day following the bid award.  If a Flight Attendant rescinds a domicile award, they will not be able to submit another domicile bid for three (3) months in accordance with our current Contract.

Bid Submission

As of January 7, 189 Hawaiian Flight Attendants have submitted bids for the new SEA Domicile. This includes 163 from HNL and 26 from LAX.

  • 16 of those submitting a SEA Domicile bid are within seniority 1-400
  • 18 of those submitting a SEA Domicile bid are within seniority 401-800
  • 39 of those submitting a SEA Domicile bid are within seniority 801-1200
  • 30 of those submitting a SEA Domicile bid are within seniority 1201-1600
  • 34 of those submitting a SEA Domicile bid are within seniority 1601-2000
  • 54 of those submitting a SEA Domicile bid are seniority 2001 or higher

Hawaiian Flight Attendant Seattle Domicile LOA Session #3 Virtual Roadshow Reminder

Council 47 LAX – Joint Membership Meeting

Bid the Date – Virtual Membership Meeting

Join us on February 27, 2026 for a virtual joint membership meeting with Councils 15, 18, and 47.

Each year, Councils are required to hold two membership meetings, with one held prior to the AFA-CWA Board of Directors Conference (BOD). This year’s Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for March, and this membership meeting will help your leadership prepare for that discussion as we represent you.

We will review the BOD agenda items that will be brought forward so members can share feedback, raise concerns, and voice their perspectives before being represented at the BOD.

Additional details, including RSVP information and the meeting agenda, will be shared soon. Please bid the date if you plan to attend.

Joint Contract Negotiations Session 17 – July 2026

This session, the JNC focused on refining the Reserve survey to ensure a comprehensive representation of member concerns. Significant progress was also made on Section 23 (Insurance Benefits), with proposals aimed at enhancing Flight Attendant protections and securing tailored insurance provisions. Additionally, productive discussions continued on Section 30 (Training). Further improvements are anticipated pending management’s response to our latest proposal.
