With the current Master Executive Council (MEC) Officers’ term ending on December 31, 2025, our MEC held elections this week for the next term. According to the AFA-CWA Constitution and Bylaws, each of the eight Local Executive Council (LEC) Presidents casts one vote for each officer position. The following AFA Flight Attendants have been elected to MEC Officer positions representing Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendants:

MEC President: Timothy Green
MEC Vice President: Brice McGee
MEC Secretary-Treasurer: Paul Ikioka

These officers will serve from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2028. You can find more details about each officer’s duties and responsibilities in the AFA-CWA Constitution and Bylaws and the MEC Policy and Procedure Manual.

Our MEC congratulates the newly elected officers and sincerely thanks everyone who stepped forward to run in the election.

  • Sick Leave Survey extended to Friday, November 21 Noon PT

Our Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) has received reports that some Flight Attendants have not received the Sick Leave Survey emails. If you have not yet received the survey, please check your spam or junk folder. We are actively working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. To ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate, we are extending the survey deadline to Friday, November 21 at Noon PT.

2026 Annual Health Benefits Enrollment

Aloha LAX,

As we move forward in integrating our work systems with Alaska Air Group, a few changes will be apparent in this year’s Open Enrollment that may look different than what we are used to. Please take the time to review these changes and reach out to your local leadership for any questions you may have.

Annual Benefits Enrollment runs October 29 – November 21. Hawaiian Flight Attendants will continue under our existing benefit programs until a joint agreement is reached through the joint negotiations process.

Enrollment Platform

This year’s enrollment will take place on OurBenefitsHub.com. The site replaces HA.BenefitsNow.com. Even though the platform is shared, our contractual benefits remain governed by our current Hawaiian agreement until new terms are negotiated and ratified.

Key Dates and Coverage

Enrollment window: October 29 – November 21, 2025
Coverage effective date: January 1, 2026

No action needed for current coverage to continue, unless you wish to:

  • Re-enroll in an FSA
  • Complete a new HC-5 waiver form

Confirmation statements for 2026 coverage will be mailed and posted online the week of December 1.

Plan Updates

  • Medical plan costs: HMSA and Kaiser plan premiums are increasing by approximately 10–11%.
  • New vendor for FSAs/HRAs: Administration is moving from SmartChoice to Optum Financial.
  • Company EAP provider change: Lyra will replace SupportLinc as the Employee Assistance Program provider for Hawaiian Airlines. Please note that company EAP is a different program from the AFA EAP.
  • Group Life & AD&D: Members who have not named a beneficiary will need to add one during enrollment.
  • Leave of Absence Premium Billing: The Benefits Hub will handle billing and payment for benefits during leaves.

Travel Program Note

TRAVEL OPEN ENROLLMENT will be moved to March 2026 as we prepare for a combined Passenger Service System (PSS). 

The “Inner Circle” enrollment period will not occur in November. Current Inner Circle guests remain active through December.


Beginning in January, Inner Circle fares will apply automatically when using FTP credits on HA-designated flights.

Recap October 27 to November 7

On behalf of your Council 47 Officers, Josh, Paul, and Beth, thank you for the support and trust you have shown in us during the recent elections. We are truly grateful to represent you for another three years and remain committed to putting you first in every decision we make.

As we look ahead to the next three years, our focus will be to strengthen our council and representation. We will continue to show up for you at every level, whether in conversations with management, at MEC meetings, or within AFA International.

IMD Refresh Update

The company is currently conducting the Inflight Mobile Device (IMD) refresh. If you are unable to make one of the scheduled RSVP appointments, another option is available:

  • A Spot On IT Technician is located in the LAX Village, Monday through Friday, 0530–1400 PST.
  • The technician’s schedule can vary, so reach out to Gina Lorenzo for the latest information or to coordinate an appointment.

If you encounter any issues or scheduling conflicts, please contact Gina Lorenzo. Please make sure to complete the AAG Single Sign-on process before doing the IMD refresh.

The Membership Hub allows you to:

  • View and manage your AFA-CWA membership information and status
  • Update contact details to ensure your mailing address is correct for contract voting
  • Review dues history and make payments
  • Set up automatic monthly dues payments
  • Access MEC/LEC contact information

Our AFA Employee Assistance Program (EAP)/Professional Standards Committee recognizes that Flight Attendants may be facing increasing challenges when it comes to accessing affordable food, whether on the road or at home. We want you to know that you are not alone. In response to these difficulties, we have compiled a list of apps to help you save money on food and find practical solutions during these uncertain times. Your well-being matters to us, and we are here to help.

Note: Find these apps using the search function on your device’s app store. Not all apps are available on all devices or operating systems.

Flashfood helps users save up to 50% on supermarket staples, including milk, bread, butter, eggs, and more. The app features items marked down because they are nearing their “use by” date. Instead of sending food to a landfill, Flashfood partners with grocery stores across North America to sell these items at a deep discount. All items are still fresh and safe to eat. Users can browse deals from local chains, including Stop & Shop, Giant Eagle, Meijer, and Tops.

Too Good To Go partners with local grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries, and cafés to offer special “surprise bags” filled with unsold food at a significant discount. Instead of discarding unsold items, businesses make them available through the app. Users can browse deals, reserve a bag, pay through the app, and pick up their order during a designated time frame.

Basket is a crowdsourced grocery shopping app designed to help users compare prices at stores within a 5-mile radius. After creating a shopping list, the app compares prices across stores and provides real-time pricing updates, including available coupons and discounts. Users report saving both time and up to $100 a month using Basket.

Food On the Table helps users create personalized shopping lists and offers recipe suggestions. The app identifies required ingredients and locates the most affordable sources nearby. Users can add their own recipes, and the app identifies the most affordable stores for those ingredients. Additional features include recipe emailing and organized shopping categories, helping users save both money and time.

Ibotta enables users to earn cash by adding offers, shopping, and uploading a photo of their receipt. By linking a store loyalty card, users can skip uploading photos. The app supports a variety of retailers. Users can withdraw cash from their Ibotta account once they reach $20, with three withdrawal options: bank transfer, PayPal, or digital gift cards (with a minimum of $25 for gift cards).

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced plans for a 10% reduction in flight capacity across 40 markets, starting this Friday. According to news reports, these schedule reductions will begin on Friday and will gradually increase throughout the weekend until they reach the full 10% by the following week. Reports also suggest that all Alaska and Hawaiian Flight Attendant bases are likely to be included in the markets affected by these capacity cuts. AFA International President Sara Nelson issued a statement regarding these reductions yesterday.

Management is aware of this announcement and is currently awaiting finalized guidance from the FAA to make necessary adjustments to operations. Our Master Executive Council (MEC) and Scheduling Committee are in contact with Inflight and Crew Scheduling management and are waiting for further information regarding their plans once they receive additional details from the FAA. In addition, AFA International has proactively reached out to management to push for the implementation of protections and mitigations for Flight Attendants attempting to commute to work in light of potential delays and cancellations.

Review Your Contract Now In Case Your Flying Is Affected

As these capacity reductions take effect, you may experience cancellations or changes to your flying schedule. In anticipation of this, our Scheduling Committee recommends that you familiarize yourself with your contractual rights and understand the options available to you if you are impacted.

Pre-Merger Alaska Flight Attendants: Review sections 10.R (Same-Day Scheduling Changes and Reassignments) and 10.S (Pre-Cancellations), as well as the Reassignment Flowchart and Pre-Cancellation Flowchart.

Pre-Merger Hawaiian Flight Attendants: Review section 7.J (Reassigning of Flight Attendants).

Joint Contract Negotiations Session 17 – July 2026

This session, the JNC focused on refining the Reserve survey to ensure a comprehensive representation of member concerns. Significant progress was also made on Section 23 (Insurance Benefits), with proposals aimed at enhancing Flight Attendant protections and securing tailored insurance provisions. Additionally, productive discussions continued on Section 30 (Training). Further improvements are anticipated pending management’s response to our latest proposal.
