Hotel Committee Meeting Recap – September 2026

This month, our Hotel Committee participated in its monthly standing meeting with Crew Hotels and a Quarterly Business Review (QBR) with hotel procurement vendor API. Key updates include expanded API account management support for Alaska operations, ongoing virtual credit card audits for ad-hoc international properties, and work to resolve hotel-provided transportation sign-in sheet timing discrepancies.

Joint Contract Negotiations Session 19 – September 2026

Last week, the JNC received management’s responses on several contract sections and submitted counterproposals, including important updates for retiree benefits. As negotiations continue, both parties are preparing to use Interest-based Bargaining (IBB), a collaborative approach that aims to find mutually beneficial solutions to complex issues. IBB training is scheduled for October in Seattle and will be led by a mediator from the National Mediation Board.

MEC Statement Regarding Management’s New California Timekeeping Policy

Our MEC is strongly objecting to management’s new requirement for SFO, LAX, and SAN Flight Attendants to punch in and out for duty via a timekeeping app beginning October 1, 2026. Given the unnecessary and redundant administrative burden that management is creating, our MEC is demanding that management immediately suspend the rollout and engage in discussions about realistic, practical solutions.

Last week, our AFA Alaska + Hawaiian Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) engaged in four days of collective bargaining with management in Seattle. Despite presenting a comprehensive proposal to address Section 19 (Grievance) and Section 30 (Training), the Committee and management were unable to reach an agreement. Our JNC remains dedicated to securing the best possible outcome for our Members.
