AFA-CWA Board of Directors Convention

The 53rd AFA-CWA Board of Directors Convention will take place in downtown Portland on March 9-11, 2026. Your LEC officers are thrilled that our beautiful city was chosen to host this year from a list of several other major convention cities around the country.

  • DATES: March 9-11
  • TIME: Call To Order at 0900
  • LOCATION: The Benson Hotel, 309 SW Broadway, Portland, Oregon 97205

All members in good standing are invited and encouraged to attend one or more days of the BOD Convention as a guest. It’s a great opportunity to learn firsthand how your Union works to represent your interests locally and nationally. Here are some helpful links related to the Board of Directors, the convention, and AFA in general:

If you are interested in attending as a guest, registration is required. Please remember to bid around the dates you register for as trips will not be dropped in order for you to attend. You are welcome to register to attend any or all of the dates. As a reminder, Flight Attendants who are registered air commuters are not permitted to use D8Y status to fly in for the convention.

2026 BOD Convention Registration


AFA Alaska Council 39, in conjunction with AFA Horizon Council 17, will host a pre-BOD meeting on February 25 to discuss the BOD Convention agenda as well as local committee reports and updates.

The AFA Membership Hub is your one-stop-shop to access all of your AFA account information. You can check your dues status, make payments toward past dues and view payment history. This is also the place to update your contact information, including phone numbers and preferred personal email, to make sure you’re staying up to date on important AFA communications.

Upcoming 2022 AFA Board of Directors Meeting

Master Executive Council (MEC)

  • Members of our Master Executive Council (MEC) and other AFA Representatives will be attending the AFA Board of Directors (BOD) Meeting later this week.  The BOD meeting is where business affecting all AFA airlines is conducted.
  • Your LEC President is your representative at the BOD meeting and will be voting on your behalf regarding approval of the AFA International budget, proposed amendments to the AFA Constitution & Bylaws, and the election of AFA International Officers.
  • If you have any questions about the BOD meeting, submitted agenda items, or international officer elections, please contact your LEC President.

Later this week, our Master Executive Council (MEC) Officers, Local Executive Council (LEC) Presidents, and many other LEC Officers and Committee Chairs will be attending the 49th Annual AFA Board of Directors (BOD) meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada.  They will join representatives from the other airlines that make up AFA to conduct the business of our Union at the international level.  It’s worth noting that this is the first in-person meeting of the BOD since 2019.

BOD Meeting Agenda Items

Your LEC President represents you and the other members of your Local Council on the Board of Directors and will be casting votes on your behalf at the BOD meeting.  Your MEC Officers serve in an ex-officio capacity on the BOD but do not have voting privileges.

A total of nine advance agenda items were submitted for consideration by the Board at this meeting.  Each Local Council has held or will hold a Local Council meeting prior to the BOD meeting to discuss these agenda items and gain your feedback.  You can find a list of these agenda items and complete language on the AFA BOD Meeting website.

International Officer Elections

In addition to the consideration of agenda items, AFA International Officers elections will also take place at this year’s BOD meeting.  As your directly elected representative, your LEC President will be voting on your behalf for the offices of International President, Vice President, and Secretary-Treasurer.

Joint Council Membership Meeting Registration

California Membership Meeting: November 16th, 2020

The next membership meeting for Council 35 members will be Monday, November 16, 2020 at 1100 on Zoom. The purpose will be to discuss the AFA Board of Directors Meeting scheduled for November 18, 2020. This meeting will be a combined council meeting and open to all Council 35, 18 and 15 members in good standing (up-to-date on dues).  

You must register to attend.  Please review the agenda prior to the meeting.

California Councils Joint Membership Meeting November 16, 2020

The next membership meeting for members will be Monday, November 16, 2020 at 1100 on Zoom. The purpose will be to discuss the AFA Board of Directors Meeting scheduled for November 18, 2020.  This meeting will be a combined council meeting and open to all Council 35, 18 and 15 members in good standing (up-to-date on dues).

BOD Meeting Agenda Items

This year, as in all odd numbered years, the only advanced agenda item for consideration by the Board is the annual AFA-CWA budget. Each LEC held a Local Council meeting over the past several weeks to discuss the proposed budget and gain your feedback.  You can find details about the proposed 2019-2020 AFA-CWA budget at http://afa-bod.org/index-of-agenda-items.

Hawaiian Flight Attendant Seattle Domicile Negotiations – March 2026 Update

Management currently requires Flight Attendants to provide proof of relocation to receive the flat-rate moving expense, a policy that the AFA is formally challenging through the grievance process. While this dispute is ongoing, Flight Attendants able to submit proof of relocation must submit two forms of documentation, such as a lease or updated driver’s license, within 60 days of transfer if they wish to be paid under management’s terms. The union continues to advocate for a fairer process and encourages members to keep records of all related interactions.

Joint Contract Negotiations Session 12 – February 2026

During this negotiation session, we made progress on Sections 15 (Leaves of Absence) and 22 (Expenses). The JNC advocated for positive developments from the Hawaiian CBA to strengthen our proposals. We also introduced our initial proposal for Section 28 (Domiciles) and remain committed to meaningful improvements in all areas of discussion.
