Upcoming SAN Local Council Meeting – April 16, 2015

Dear San Diego Flight Attendants:

For those of you who are new to the AFA-CWA structure, our Constitution and Bylaws mandate that the Board of Directors convene once a year to conduct union business.  Brice and I will be attending the Board of Directors meeting from April 27th through 30th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Constitution and Bylaws also require all councils to bring forward the agenda items to their members.  You will have the opportunity to review and discuss each agenda item at a union meeting with the LEC officers.  We have scheduled our LEC meeting on April 16 from 1 to 3 PM in the Shipley Media Center, located in terminal two, at the San Diego airport.

As your LEC President, I vote on your behalf on these agenda items and the budget.  In order to best represent you, it is imperative that your LEC Officers have your feedback when placing these votes.

Sharie D Shipley Center at San Diego International Airport.  The center is located in Terminal 2 on the baggage claim Level.  From the Commuter Terminal, ride the Airport Loop Bus and get off at the third stop.  Walk into Terminal 2 baggage claim, turn left and walk to the very end.  The Media Center is on the left side of the far end wall.

For bidding purposes, please save the date for our first Council 15 San Diego Local Council Meeting!

11 AM to 2 PM 

Joining us at the meeting will be special guests Jeffrey Peterson, MEC President, to address Negotiations and Stephen Poynter, MEC Scheduling Vice Chairperson for PBS, to answer your PBS questions.

The meeting will be held in the Sharie D. Shipley Media Center at San Diego International Airport.  The center is located in Terminal 2 on the Baggage Claim Level.

Tuesday, November 5th from 11am to 2pm at Oggi’s Pizza, Point Loma/Liberty Station, 2562 Laning Road, San Diego, California  92106. Tel: 619-876-5000.

Join us for lunch, meet with your LEC, and receive valuable information. We encourage your attendance, so come and bring your questions and concerns.

Our guest speaker for Negotiations will be MEC President Jeff Peterson. Agenda items will be discussed, along with reports from respective LEC committees.

Joint Contract Negotiations Session 13 – March 2026

Our JNC met this week for three days of collective bargaining with management. The JNC focused on clarifying questions about moving expenses and presented a proposal for Sick Leave, using feedback from Flight Attendants to guide improvements. The Committee is working to incorporate the strongest elements from both contracts to ensure better support for all members.

Hawaiian Seattle Domicile Council 43 and Council 47 Meeting Recap

The Negotiating Committee continues to advocate for clear and consistent guidelines regarding moving expenses and reimbursement for Flight Attendants. Despite management’s refusal to participate in recent meetings, the committee remains committed to addressing members’ concerns and ensuring contractual compliance. As the grievance process moves forward, Flight Attendants are encouraged to document their interactions and stay engaged in upcoming opportunities to seek clarification from management.
